A maximum of 2 crates, each containing a maximum of 20 TELL1 boards (depending on the number of "throttle or" to be placed in the crate), can be housed in one rack. This is due to the fact that Ethernet and optical patch panels take some space within the rack. The Ethernet patch panels and TTCoc (splitter) will be place in the rear part of the rack allowing direct connection to the back of the boards via patch cord cables. The optical patch panels will make the connection between the multi-ribbon fiber cable to the 12 ribbon fiber patch cord cables in front of the rack. See the drawing of a 56U rack below.
A typical level 1 rack contains:
- 1 Turbine (4U)
- 1 Air deflector (3U)
- 2 Heat exchangers (2U)
- 3 Optical patch panels (4U)
- 8 Ethernet patch panels (1U)
- 2 TTCoc (splitter) (1U)
- 2 Electronic crates (9+2 U)
