Dear LHCb colleagues
The fifth workshop on electronics for LHC experiments have now been scheduled for Snowmass, Colorado USA, 20 - 24 September 1999.
This workshop is a very good forum to get a feeling of what is going on in electronics for all the LHC experiments. I would like to recommend you to submit a paper for this conference if you think your work is of interest to the community of electronics designers. Otherwise just going there without having a paper can also be very useful.
If you intend to submit a paper to the workshop I would appriciate if you could give me a hint. Just to have an idea of what will be presented from LHCb.
I have attached the official call for papers.
Best regards
Jorgen --------------3F403420CBCA73FE7D47A088 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline

Fifth Workshop on Electronics for the LHC Experiments
Snowmass, Colorado USA, 20 - 24 September 1999
Organised by the University of Wisconsin - Madison, on behalf of the CERN LHCC Electronics Board
Call for Papers
The purpose of the workshop is to review the electronics for LHC experiments and to identify areas and encourage common efforts for the development of electronics within and between the different LHC experiments and to promote cross fertilisation in the engineering and physics communities involved in the LHC activities.
The programme of the workshop will include both invited plenary talks and parallel working groups for contributed papers. The focus of the workshop will be research and recent development in the following topics:
- Radiation and magnetic field tolerant electronics systems - Optoelectronics and data transfer systems - Detector control and real time systems - Electronics production and test techniques - Systems reliability, quality assurance and maintenance - Electronics for trackers - Electronics for calorimeters - Electronics for muon detectors - Trigger electronics - Low voltage and high voltage distribution - Grounding shielding and cooling
Authors are invited to submit papers describing original developments and new contributions in the topic areas. Manufacturers are welcome to submit abstracts on new, state of the art, electronic products or systems, in the field of electronic technology for particle physics.
Abstracts and summaries will be made available at the time of the workshop: these will include papers which cannot be granted an oral presentation because of time constraints but which, in the view of the programme committee, are of interest to the community. Workshop records will be made available.
Abstracts (100 words long) and summaries (500 words long) must be submitted electronically following the instructions available: on the web: http://hep.physics.wisc.edu/LEB99 or via Email request to: LEB99@hep.physics.wisc.edu.
The summary should be complete and describe the work, its relevance to experiments at LHC (including specific experiment(s) if applicable) and important conclusions.
Deadline for the submission is: 30 April 1999
An acknowledgement will be sent by Email to the corresponding Author.
To receive the poster and be registered in our database of the workshop, please email your name and address to: Anne Johnson Email address: Anne.Johnson@rl.ac.uk
