Power

Special attention has to be paid regarding the electrical power installation. The total electrical power for the electronics in the cavern is 2MW. This power will more or less be divided as follow, 1.5MW inside and around the counting houses and .5MW near the detector.

For the power dissipation, a total of up to 1.5MW can be cooled by mixed water, in the racks (with heat exchangers), in the experimental area.
Up to 50kW per floor can be cooled by the air conditioner system in the counting house.
In terms of air conditioning, up to 50 kW on each side of the shielding wall of the experimental area can be cooled. In the cavern (detector side) this power could possibly be increased at limited costs to 70kW.

The estimated dissipated power in the cavern is already above the current limit of 50kW. The estimated power to be dissipated by the electronics is around 56kW. The most dissipated power comes from the long (~80m) low voltage power cables that have to carry high current in the cavern for the detectors that foreseen to place their power supplies in the counting house.
