The general principle of the
grounding in the barracks is to have a well interconnected grounding mesh in the
false floor at every level of the counting house. This grounding mesh is
obtained by interconnecting the cable trays (with their earth cables), the
cooling pipes, the metallic support structure and the rack chassis in addition
to the safety earth cable connection that is distributed by the mains electrical
distribution network.
The connections between the metallic support structure (beams), the metallic
floor, and the earth cable are made via connecting braids screwed on welded
dowel. The racks are grounded via connecting braids to a cooper ground bar
mounted under the rack rows in the false floor. The ground bars, the earth cable
and the cable trays’ ground cables are interconnected using cable lugs and other
type of crimped connections. All those elements are then connected on both sides
of the barracks to two 120 mm2 copper cables that make the link to the earth via
the electrical distribution cable trays installed on the ceiling of every
barrack.
