Power dissipation:

Water cooling:

As mentioned before, a total power of 1.5MW can be cooled by the mixed water (with heat exchangers systems) in all the cavern (detector + electronic parts).

Air cooling:

In terms of air cooling, the margin is not that big.
In the cavern (detector part) the installation already existing can cool down up to 50kW of dissipated power. This system has to cool down every heat lost by the racks, we consider a 2% of the total power dissipation inside the rack for those equipped with 2U heat exchangers and 10% for the racks with 1U heat exchangers. The cables dissipation has also to be considered for the air cooling in the cavern.

In the counting house a local air conditioner is installed in each barracks. In each level 50kW of power dissipation can be removed. The electronics racks to be placed in the barracks will be cooled with 2U heat exchangers which means that the power dissipation in the surroundings will be 2% of the total power of the racks (from EP/ESS tests for rack cooling).
For the PCs, ECS and Switches racks (horizontal air flow) we don't have a precise estimate or measure of the power loss in the surroundings of the heat exchangers modules that might be used.
